Kodak announced that will no longer be making digital cameras, pocket video cameras and digital picture frames on Thursday. Gotta say, it’s kind of sad to know the company that made the first digital camera in 1975 is going under.
Since the 1980’s, Kodak has struggled to compete against Japanese camera companies, and now it seems the competition has become too much. Many critics of the company’s business strategy have noted that Kodak was late switching to digital. Basically, the company was left behind.
Kodak filed for bankruptcy protection last month, according to the New York Times. The Times also reported that Kodak would begin to phase out of the industry in the first part of this year and would start the search to license their brand to new companies soon after that.
